Day 1: Getting There

We left the Houghton County Airport at around Noon on Sunday, the 30th of January. We arrived in Minneapolis/St Paul Int'l Airport a tad late so we walked straight to our departure gate. After waiting to board for awhile, we decided to check the status of our flight on the flight monitor near the gate and our flight to LaGuardia Airport was reported to be delayed. We then went back to the entrance of our gate and waited for further instruction. Finally, the PA came on and said that our flight was cancelled. We did have a chance to get on a last minute flight to Newark, NJ so we went to the gate immediately. After checking, we were placed  on standby and managed to get a couple of the last seats available on that flight. Fortunately, we made it to New York around the time as we were scheduled to arrive, except we landed at the Newark Int'l Airport. Luckily enough, we found our luggage and we took a cab to the Holiday Inn-Midtown, where we were staying for the week. While checking in, we met and introduced ourselves to the other Stormix employees, who happened to be waiting in the lobby. We got settled in and, although tired, we went out for dinner at Gallagher's Steakhouse with all of the other Stormix employees. After a tad overpriced yet filling steak and a bite of Peter's luscious cheesecake, we left and did a little more walking. The Stormix employees were still on Pacific time and were wide awake by midnight. We were the Easterners of the bunch, though, and decided to head back to the hotel for some R&R...
